Acura RL VSA

Vehicle Stability Assist, or VSA, can help you maintain vehicle control in potentially unstable driving situations. VSA continually monitors vehicle speed, throttle position, individual wheel speeds, steering angle, lateral g-force, and yaw rate to detect over-steer or under-steer. VSA on the RL works in three stages. When under steer or over steer is detected, the system will first use the super handling all wheel drive system to divert power from individual wheels to help stabilize the vehicle. If that is not sufficient, the system will automatically reduce throttle and then apply the antilock brakes to individual wheels as needed to help keep the vehicle on the driver’s intended path. VSA is automatically engaged each time you start the vehicle but can be turned off or on by pressing the VSA Off button. The VSA Activation indicator is illuminated when the system is turned off and flashes when the system is active. A second light, simply marked ‘VSA’ will activate if there is a malfunction detected in the system. Any VSA malfunction should be looked at by your Acura dealer.
